2022：A Letter to the KCC Community

Since the launch of the KCC mainnet on June 16, 2021, KCC has been building its ecosystem. In constructing a building, the first step is always creating a strong foundation. KCC did the same so that it could build a rich and diverse decentralized ecosystem. Because of that, we defined 2021 as the “Year of the Basis” for KCC.

In 2021, KCC has gradually built and improved the infrastructure in many aspects. It may be difficult to notice. But, if community members pay attention to the foundation KCC has built, they will understand the potential of KCC’s future growth. At the same time, KCC is grateful to the KCC team and the early contributors of our community. They give us the confidence to take on more challenges and fight for a more rewarding future.

As the year 2022 approaches, KCC would like to share with the community what we have achieved in the “Year of the Basis” and what we plan to do in 2022.

Steady Growth of On-chain data

Since the launch of the mainnet:

Over 6 million blocks

10 million+ transactions

Over 280,000 user addresses

TVL approaching the $60 million mark

It may not seem like a huge achievement at first glance. But, if you take the infrastructure strategy into consideration, you will understand that KCC has done a great job. KCC has not been as aggressive as other public chains to push for rapid market exposure right from the beginning. KCC believes that exposure to the market without proper preparation will bring many unexpected crises. Hence, as a new public chain ecosystem, KCC prefers to be well prepared. Thankfully, the on-chain data has grown steadily and has made a breakthrough in the last month.

Safety Always Comes First

Safety incidents have always been a topic in the history of blockchain development. KCC wants to ensure the safety of our users’ assets first and foremost. Thus, KCC puts security at the forefront of product design, technology development, and many aspects of operations. KCC has adopted PoSA (Proof of Staked Authority) as the underlying consensus algorithm. It provides KCC with a more secure and stable ecological foundation. KCC also launched a Multi-Signature Wallet and TimeLock in November 2021. The addition of these features further provides security for user assets. It improves the ability of the contract to fight against the attacks.

Our code is fully open-source, as full transparency is our ongoing commitment. We will continue to pour more resources into security in the future.

User Demands as Core Driver

KCC uses KCS as the on-chain gas fee, which costs little for transactions. It helps to remove the barrier for participating DeFi projects. Thus, KCS community users can then leverage KCC to make DeFi investments.

In 2021, KCC completed two upgrades to the KCC Browser. The latest version allows users to track each transaction more intuitively and efficiently. In September 2021, KCC launched the Discover KCC page. It enables users to clearly understand the background of each project in the KCC ecosystem and see comments from other users.

The KCC Cross-Chain Bridge was launched in July 2021. Since then, KCC has been upgrading it. It now can provide a convenient and fast way for users to transfer assets across chains. It also helps users manage their holdings more efficiently. Currently, the KCC Cross-Chain Bridge has supported dozens of assets on four chains, including ETH, BSC, Polygon, and KCC. In the future, it will support more types of public chains, such as AVAX.

Community as the Foundation of KCC

As the background of KCC states, it was built by the KuCoin community and the users of KCS. KCC originates from the community. Thus, only the KCC community can determine the development of KCC.

In October 2021, KCC launched the KCC GoDAO. It is a self-governing community organization that includes KCC community ambassadors from around the world and the KCC core team members. The first batch of ambassadors have been recruited from the Ambassador Program initiated back in June 2021. Not only that, KCC has invited several blockchain professionals to be community advisors to the KCC GoDAO, including Johnny Lyu, the CEO of KuCoin. KCC GoDAO with global ambassadors and professional advisors will further strengthen the foundation for future growth.

At the same time, the KCC community has been continuing to maintain a strong connection with the KuCoin and KCS communities. KCC believes that this connection will become even tighter in the upcoming 2022.

Initial Development of KCC Ecosystem

KCC is pleased to see some native projects in the second half of 2021. KCC native projects such as MojitoSwap and KuSwap are beginning to generate great momentum. Both of the projects were started by KCC community users and have gained excellent community reputation and support. To date, there are more than a dozen projects in the KCC ecosystem. These early adopters may be the engine that really explodes the KCC ecosystem.

Also, KCC has partnered with many external organizations, such as Coin98, Coinhub, Shield Protocol, etc. These partnerships have added a lot of value to the KCC ecosystem. KCC is delighted to see more organizations joining the KCC ecosystem in the future.

What Is Next in 2022

Many people have been asking KCC what ambitious plans we have for 2022. The truth is, KCC prefers to take steady growth and make progress step by step. KCC does have many plans on the schedule. But KCC will take them one step at a time based on a solid foundation.

In 2022, the primary goal is to start the second phase of KCC’s development — building the KCC project ecosystem. As described, 2021 is the “Year of Basis” for KCC. KCC hopes to make 2022 the “Year of Breakthrough”. Accordingly, we will be working on many aspects:

Discovering and incubating KCC native projects

Incubating well-known cross-chain projects

Providing better services to projects on-chain

As for the selection of projects for the ecosystem, we will continue to put our attention on the arena of DeFi, NFT, GameFi, Metaverse, and DAO.

We are also discussing a series of collaborations with the KuCoin community, the KCS community, and more external organizations. Some of which will lead to significant growth for KCC. KCC will reveal them to the public at the proper time, so please stay tuned.

In addition, KCC will invite more global community ambassadors and blockchain advisors to become KCC GoDAO members. KCC GoDAO will play an even more significant role in the KCC community.

Finally, KCC would like to thank each community member for their contribution and support to the KCC. KCC is confident that 2022 will be a unique and memorable year for us all.
